A Good Word

In our small group, we've just begun a new bible study called, "Gripped by the Greatness of God" by Pastor James MacDonald. He is the pastor of the church we attended in the late nineties before we moved to our current church. This study emphasizes God's greatness by revealing some of the mountaintop experiences we read about in scripture and encourages you to look at your own life and recall your own encounters with our great God.

This morning, in my quiet time (oh, thank you Lord for the quiet!), I read one of my favorite passages about God's greatness and holiness, and it is something I wanted to share with you. May it be a reminder of how Great our God truly is as you go about your day. (If this doesn't make you want to burst into a hearty rendition of "How Great is Our God" I don't know what will!)

His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
